PUBLIC NOTICE
SHIRE OF GNOWANGERUP LOCAL LAWS REVIEW
The Shire of Gnowangerup is undertaking a review of the following local laws in accordance with section 3.16 of the Local Government Act 1995:
- Local Government Property Local Law 2016
Purpose: To regulate the care, control and management of all property of the local government except thoroughfares.
- Animals, Environment and Nuisance Local Law 2016
Purpose: To provide for the regulation, control and management of animals and the prevention of environmental damage and nuisances within the district.
Copies of these local laws are available on the Shire’s Website and from the Shire of Gnowangerup office.
The Shire is required to undertake community consultation as part of the local laws review. This is to gauge public opinion on the contents and ongoing suitability of the local laws and help identify whether any of these require amendment or repeal.
The Shire will consider all submissions received and prepare a report for Council on the outcomes of the consultation. These outcomes, together with recommendations from Shire staff, will be used to determine whether any changes to the local laws are required. Should any changes be required, the Shire will commence a separate local law process that will involve further community consultation.
Queries regarding the review of the local laws can be made to Anita Finn, Senior Executive Assistant and Governance Officer via email to gnpshire@gnowangerup.wa.gov.au.
Submissions in relation to the review of the local laws may be made prior to 4.00pm on Friday, 7 August 2026 to the Chief Executive Officer via mail to the Shire of Gnowangerup, 28 Yougenup Road, Gnowangerup WA 6335 or via email to gnpshire@gnowangerup.wa.gov.au.
