PUBLIC NOTICE
HAZARD REDUCTION ACTIVITIES
Walsh St, Stutley St and Garnett Rd
Residents and visitors of Gnowangerup are advised that staff from Shire of Gnowangerup will be conducting Hazard Reduction Burns in the Vicinity of Walsh St, Stutley St and Garnett Rd in Gnowangerup area.
PURPOSE: Burning of piled debris to reduce the risk of bushfire impacting CBH infrastructure and reduce the potential for a bushfire impacting residences and the townsite.
Prescribed burning will be undertaken with consideration of winds to minimise smoke from entering the Gnowangerup townsite.
DATE: Beginning Tuesday, 7th July for a period of 1 week.
LOCATION: Areas in the vicinity of Walsh St, Stutley St and Garnett Rd as per the map below:

WHAT TO DO DURING AND AFTER HAZARD REDUCTION ACTIVITIES:
- Traffic speed may apply with traffic management signs installed on day of the burns.
- Road closures may be in place on the day of burning activities for the safety of Fire Fighters operating within the area.
- Motorists are asked to have their headlights on when driving through the area and drive to the conditions as the smoke hazard will remain for a number of days after the burn is completed.
- Abide by all directions of Fire Fighters/Emergency Services personnel on scene.
- Smoke may affect visibility and air quality in and around Gnowangerup on the day itself and the days following. Residents and visitors with any respiratory conditions are reminded to have their medication close by or on them as a precaution.
- Firefighters will be conducting patrols of the treatment areas in the days following each prescribed burn.
