HAZARD REDUCTION ACTIVITIES – Gnowangerup Townsite

Residents and visitors of Gnowangerup are advised that members of the Gnowangerup Aboriginal Corporation and Shire staff will be burning leaf piles and debris within the War Memorial Park.


PURPOSE: To commence with the pile burning around assets within the town sites to reduce the potential for a bushfire impacting the town.


Exact timing of these burns will be dependent on the direction and strength of winds.


DATE: Beginning Tuesday, 30th September 2025 for a period of one day
LOCATION: War Memorial Park identified areas below.

WHAT TO DO DURING AND AFTER HAZARD REDUCTION ACTIVITIES:
• Motorists are asked to have their headlights on when driving through the area and drive to the conditions as the smoke hazard will remain for several hours after the burn is completed.
• Abide by all directions of Shire Staff/Emergency Services personnel on scene.
• Smoke may affect visibility and air quality in and around Gnowangerup on the day and the days following. Residents and visitors with any respiratory conditions are reminded to have their medication close by or on them as a precaution.
• Shire Staff will be conducting patrols of the treatment areas in the days following.
