Weir Park Upgrade – Works Starting Soon 🌿
Works to improve Weir Park are getting underway, following funding allocated by the Shire of Gnowangerup in the 2026/27 Budget.
Community consultation was undertaken in February, with one of the strongest priorities from the community being the return of healthy, green grass to the park.
Following a procurement process, Think Water has been awarded the contract to deliver the turf and irrigation works. The project also includes new pumps, tanks and reticulation infrastructure to support the park and future stages of improvements.
Temporary park closure
Weir Park will be closed from Monday 17 August to Friday 21 August while the existing clay soil is removed and clean sand fill is placed in preparation for the new turf and irrigation.
The park will reopen following these initial works.
Further works are planned for September, including installation of the irrigation system, turf and landscaping. The park will need to close again for approximately two weeks while this work is completed. Exact dates will be confirmed closer to the time.
A community working group continues to work alongside the Shire, providing local input, suggestions and guidance as the improvements progress.
Thank you for your patience while these works are underway. The temporary closures will allow contractors to work safely and help set Weir Park up for a greener and more usable community space into the future.
