Gnowangerup Pharmacy welcomes new Pharmacist-in-Charge

ETA Pharmacies Group is pleased to announce it has recently appointed Irvine Tavuyanago as Pharmacist in Charge at Gnowangerup Pharmacy.

ETA Pharmacies Group Director Eric Chrenowski said appointing Irvine was a win for the Gnowangerup community, enabling the Pharmacy to be open five days a week. “We are so pleased to have Irvine joining us in Gnowangerup, bringing with him a decade of experience in Pharmacies across two continents. Please join us in welcoming Irvine and his family to the Gnowangerup community,” Eric said. Hailing from the small town of Macheke, just over 100km southeast of Zimbabwe’s capital Harare, Irvine Tavuyanago always knew he wanted to help people. “I’ve always had a passion for helping people, but I knew I didn’t really want to be a doctor, so I decided becoming a pharmacist was the road for me to take,” Irvine said. After graduating from the University of Zimbabwe Irvine initially worked as a Pharmacist in Harare, before moving to neighbouring Botswana. Following the birth of his daughter Irvine decided to seek new opportunities, moving to Australia accepting a post in Broome. “I love it here in Australia, having a daughter I feel this is a place where she will gain more exposure and opportunities,” Irvine said. Reflecting on the differences between being a pharmacist across two continents, Irvine said he enjoys the more active role you can play in people's health in Australia. “It’s a lot more interesting being a pharmacist here in Australia, you have more of a clinical role, getting to help patients with their overall health which makes me more fulfilled,” Irvine said. Finding Gnowangerup a welcome change from the sticky heat of Broome, Irvine is looking forward to getting involved in the local community and having an impact on local life. “It seems like a very laid-back town, quiet and spacious. I really like that it is a smaller caring kind of community where everyone seems like family. “I look forward to getting to know my patients and local health professionals to provide the best possible care for all,” Irvine said. 

Gnowangerup Pharmacy is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 3pm on Fridays.
