TECHNICAL AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER

The Shire of Gnowangerup is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Technical and Compliance Officer to join our Regulatory Services team. This role is responsible for providing technical and compliance support to members of staff, and involves the application and administration of relevant monitoring and testing programs that protect and promote public health and wellbeing standards in the community.

This position would be suitable for a candidate who is experienced in local government, and looking for their next exciting opportunity. The role is suitable for an individual who is confident in working independently, and using their initiative. It will work alongside employees who work remotely and across various local governments. About the Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical assistance for mosquito breeding site monitoring and baiting programs as directed by the Environmental Health Officer
  • Inspecting the Shire of Gnowangerup’s airport as an Aerodrome Reporting Officer to ensure statutory compliance
  • Undertaking routine water sampling under direction of the Environmental Health Officer
  • Undertaking site assessments and liaise with the public on relevant local health and amenity compliance matters
  • Assisting the Shire’s regulatory services team by responding to customer requests, including site visits and provide technical information.
  • Responding to staff requests concerning control of animals.
  • Assisting the Environmental Health Officer in undertaking feral animal and pest management activities.
  • Assisting the Environmental Health Officer in the administration of relevant public and environmental health, food, water and wastewater safety, programs.

Employees may be required to undertake a Medical Examination prior to commencement of employment. A purchase order will be issued ahead of such Medical Examination. All employees are required to provide a Police Clearance that is no older than three months. The cost of obtaining a Police Clearance will be reimbursed by the Shire upon provision of receipt.
