Community Development Manager

Situated in the heart of Western Australia’s Great Southern region, the Shire of Gnowangerup is an inclusive, progressive and prosperous community. The Shire is seeking to appoint a passionate, enthusiastic and motivated Community Development Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing the community services team and community services program. 

Reporting to the CEO, the position is responsible for providing strategic direction in creating social capital, and connecting people, groups and places.  This will include planning, developing and coordinating community projects and community-based initiatives such as town enhancement groups, youth, people with a disability and community safety.  You will work collaboratively with key agencies and develop sustainable partnerships, be responsible for grant applications and acquittals, and supervise a small number of staff.

You will be skilled in networking, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be a great listener and have the ability to research and write reports.

Experience and/or qualifications within local government and in particular community development along with qualifications in marketing/media is desirable, but not essential.

This position is based on a permanent employment contract of three years and hours can be structured around family responsibilities and school holidays. 

An attractive remuneration package applies including a cash component of up to $85,000 per annum along with the option to salary sacrifice up to an additional eight weeks annual leave (maximum 13 weeks annual leave in total).  In addition the Shire will match salary sacrificed voluntary superannuation contributions up to 5%.
