Following the significant fire event at the IGA on March 26, 2025, the Shire of Gnowangerup confirms that the IGA building will remain closed indefinitely. In light of this, an emergency meeting was held this morning to discuss immediate actions and ensure the community's needs are met over the next 24 to 48 hours.
Recognising that many may not have had the chance to stock up before the IGA's closure, the Shire is committed to ensuring that everyone in need has access to food during this period of disruption. For those in need of lunch today, we are pleased to announce that emergency food has been made available at the Roadhouse. If you find yourself without provisions, please head to the Roadhouse where a meal will be provided at no cost to you.
Additionally, this evening from 5pm the Shire invite you to Nobarach Community Park where the community can come and enjoy a free sausage sizzle, catch up and discuss ways forward to ensure our community are able to access supplies.
The Shire is working closely with local businesses and agencies to monitor the situation and continue providing assistance where necessary. We encourage everyone to stay informed and reach out if further support is needed.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work together to support our community during this challenging time.
