Friday 29th May 2020 is Fatality Free Friday where Nationally we are trying to promote the message that there is never an excuse to take risks on or around our road. to view the WA Fact Sheet, click HERE.

Double Demerit Points

Double Demerit Points will again be in place on WA Roads for the upcoming Long Weekend (Friday 29 May – Monday 1 June inclusive).

During holiday periods and long weekends, the following offences are subject to Double Demerits:

  • Drink or drug driving
  • Failing to wear a seatbelt and child restraint
  • Running a red light
  • Illegal use of a mobile phone while driving
  • Speeding
  • Drive a motor vehicle fitted with a device designed to evade detection by a speed camera (14 points during double demerits period)
  • Drive a motor vehicle in a manner to evade detection by a speed camera (14 points during double demerits period)

 

The aim of the initiative is to encourage safe driving on long weekends and public holidays.
