Asset and Waste Management Coordinator

Situated in the heart of Western Australia’s Great Southern region, the Shire of Gnowangerup is an inclusive, progressive and prosperous community. The Shire includes the stunning Stirling Ranges, three towns, attractive rural landscape, and boasts a relaxed country lifestyle with excellent amenities. The Shire offers a great work-life balance, is a values driven organisation and is committed to developing and providing team members with opportunities.

The Shire is seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Asset and Waste Management Coordinator who will be responsible for the Shire’s asset and waste management function and management of the Shire’s assets.

Reporting to the Manager Works, you will manage a small team and be responsible for maintaining the Shire’s asset management systems, and developing and maintaining the long term works programs and asset plans. In conjunction with the Manager Works you will also manage the Shire’s aerodrome.

Having a background in local government would be advantageous but is not essential. What is essential is experience in asset management, managing contractors and a desire to deliver great results. Qualifications in engineering would also be advantageous as would experience in aerodrome operations.

This position is a five-year contract working 76 hours per fortnight, though given seniority a flexible approach to hours worked is required. The Local Government Industry Award 2020 sets out minimum terms and conditions of employment.

The position comprises remuneration totalling $137,400 which includes the unlimited use of a vehicle (within WA), superannuation and payment of professional memberships. In addition, the position provides subsidised rent, shire matched salary sacrificed superannuation of up to 5% and five weeks annual leave each year.

A position description can be obtained from the Shire’s web site or by contacting the Shire’s HR Officer, Anrie van Zyl on 9827 1007. Further information about the role can be obtained from the Shire’s Manager Works, Damon Lukins on 9827 1007.

Applications must be sent via email to anrie.vanzyl@gnowangerup.wa.gov.au or posted to the Shire of Gnowangerup, 28 Yougenup Road, Gnowangerup by 4.00pm Friday 9 June 2023.

This is an outstanding opportunity for the right person to live and work in one of the best areas of the Great Southern. This role will allow you to make a positive contribution to a progressive community and to work as part of a great team.
