COVID-19 Update

The Shire is aware of some Covid-19 cases in the community. If you believe you may have been a close contact, please follow WA Health Department protocols as per below:

1. Get tested as soon as possible

You must get tested for COVID-19 by taking a PCR test or a rapid antigen test (RAT) as soon as possible.

  • If you take a PCR and it is negative, continue to quarantine.
  • If you take a RAT and it is negative, continue to quarantine.
  • If your PCR or RAT result is positive, follow guidance in What to do when you test positive for COVID-19 (PDF 312KB).
  • If you develop COVID-19 symptoms at any time during your quarantine period, you must take another PCR or RAT and follow the above advice, depending on the result.

Note: People who are deemed critical workers or children attending school or early childhood care and learning facilities can follow modified quarantine requirements – see accordions below.

2. Quarantine at home or a suitable location for 7 days

You must immediately quarantine for 7 days from the last time you had contact with the person who tested positive and get tested as soon as possible.

When you quarantine, you must stay at your home or accommodation. This is a legal requirement.

More information about how to isolate and how to calculate your quarantine period is available on the quarantine and isolation page. If you are unable to safely quarantine at home, call 13 COVID (13 26 843) for assistance with alternative options.

3. Get tested again before leaving quarantine

  • You must either take a PCR test on Day 6 or a RAT on Day 7.
  • If your test is negative and you have no symptoms, you can leave your home after day 7 of isolation.
  • If your results are positive at any point, you must follow the guidance in What to do when you test positive for COVID-19 (PDF 312KB).
  • If you are in hotel quarantine, you must remain in hotel quarantine as per your travel direction. The Hotel Quarantine Team will organise your departure at the end of your quarantine period. This occurs between 9am and 4pm, 7 days a week.
