With spectacular views overlooking the Stirling Range National Park
Dutch Windmill - Accommodation - Private Airfield - Stone Ground Spelt Flour - Wines
Welcome to The Lily, so close to the Stirling Range, The Lily is your perfect base to explore the region.
The Lily Dutch Windmill is an authentic sixteenth Century design brick 'ground-sail' mill. The five-story full-size windmill, with its 22 Ton cap and a sail length of 24.6 metres, is one of the largest traditional windmills ever built in Australia. The mill is a fully-operational windmill producing wholemeal stone-ground Spelt flour for IGA stores, health shops, commercial bakers and home users around Australia.
DC3 Dakota C47 Gooney Bird - a stay to remember. The Lily now offers you the opportunity to stay in a true icon of aviation - an original 1944 Dakota used in the second World War in Indonesia and Australia.
At The Lily you will find unique self-contained accommodation in sixteenth Century replica Dutch houses. The reception is situated in the original and reconstructed 1924 Federation style railway station from Gnowangerup.
The Lily airstrip is adjacent to the windmill and you are able to park your own plane secure and close to the accommodation. Please check the airstrip details on the website.
Breakfast Basket is available for accommodation guests, seven days.

Yardup Cottage and Shearers Quarters

Located 100 kilometers north of Albany and just 10 kilometers from the Stirling Range National Park, Yardup Cottage and Shearers Quarters is ideally situated to explore the Great Southern region. To the south we are spoiled with spectacular views of the Stirling Range National Park, with the Bluff Knoll car park a short 15 minute drive from Yardup.
‘The Stirlings’ rise to more than 1000m above sea level. They are home to countless stunning bushwalks to suit all fitness levels and a rich diversity of unique wildflowers many of which grow nowhere else in the world. Further south the Porongurup Range, with bushwalks in abundance and various cafes and restaurants, is a pleasant and scenic 45 minute drive.
The historic city of Albany with its rich Anzac heritage is roughly 1.5hrs from Yardup by car. The coastal town of Bremer Bay with its rugged coastline and pristine waters is also easily accessible by car, roughly a 1.5hr drive in a south-easterly direction.
Built in the early 1900s, Yardup Cottage is a small and charming, self-contained, two-bedroom homestead situated on our family farm. The cottage has been home to three generations of our family.
After sitting idle since the 1970s, it was restored by Richard’s mother Sally Milne in 1993, and has been open for guests to enjoy as short stay accommodation ever since.
Complete with kitchen, bathroom and cosy lounge, the cottage is an ideal rural getaway for a couple or small family looking to experience all that the Great Southern region has to offer.
In the warmer months the quaint front verandah makes the perfect spot to sit with a cuppa and a book, taking in the unspoiled views of the Stirling Ranges. When winter sets in, time is better spent in front of the wood fire with a glass of Great Southern Pinot Noir.
You will have the cottage entirely to yourself with peace and privacy to enjoy the wide open spaces all around you.

Formerly a functioning and practical accommodation for travelling shearers, Yardup Shearers Quarters has more recently found a new lease on life while retaining its authentic appeal.
The Quarters sleeps up to 12 people in six dorm-style rooms, making it ideal for groups looking for a real rural Australian experience.
All bedrooms are private and can be locked. The kitchen, sitting area and bathroom are communal in the true style of traditional shearers quarters , however it is likely you will have the quarters all to yourself.
You’ll feel light years away from the hustle and bustle of city life as you swap stories by the communal campfire looking over the Stirling Ranges (for use in non-restricted fire months only).
The Quarters have been operating as short-stay accommodation at Yardup since 2002, when the last of the travelling shearing teams stopped staying on-farm.
